Before moving to Montreal, I invested in one of those industrial-strength down-filled parkas with a fur-lined hood and 1,001 features such as straps to carry the thing when not in use because it's just that massive. While I appreciate the utility of this winter necessity, I'm shallow enough to risk frost bite for other options until it's really really cold. For better or worse, this mild winter + expert layering have enabled me to keep my outwear options diversified and chic, if I do say so myself.
This coat and poncho combo kept me feeling warm and pretty like Belle in a Disney animated winter wonderland. Except she only wore a 3/4 sleeved gown underneath. In the snow. I could wax on for days about the unrealistic expectations set by Disney films, but I digress.
