This fringed jacket by Pepin NY is by far one of my favorite wardrobe pieces and prized possessions. It's a purchase that represents my maturing shopping philosophy, opting less and less for fast fashion and building a wardrobe of well-crafted pieces that spark joy and were meant to last. Don't get me wrong, I am not above Zara or Forever 21 as indicated by this blog post (and many others), but even those fast fashion buys have become more thoughtful. For example, when it comes to fast fashion purchases I stick to certain types of shoes and avoid blatant runway knockoffs.
This jacket is a dream for transition weather and is made from luxurious hand-stitched kantha, an embroidered fabric that originates in Southeast Asia. Pepin, founded in part by Lauren Moffat after shuttering her namesake brand, specializes in contemporary women's clothing with a hippie-chic vibe that refrains from venturing into "festival dressing" territory. In other words, Pepin keeps it classy and the brand is worth a look.
